No new drawing today, instead some words of wisdom/bullshit that I recently wrote to a friend who wanted some inspiration whilst suffering a creative block.
Hi <Insert Creatively Blocked Persons Name Here>,
good to hear from you buddy although sorry to hear you're having a case of the dreaded ever lurking mistress that is Creative Block!
There are one or two tricks that I've found tend to work for me, who knows one of them may sort you
right out.
1. Put down your pen/pencil/paper and stop drawing for a while.
2.Get yourself a cup of your preffered warm beverage, which in my case is Tea.
3.Watch a movie or an awesome cartoon. (you can make a start on number (4) whilst watching this movie/cartoon).
4.Make a list of 101 things to draw. This list should contain a variety of things that you would like to draw, things you would not like to draw, things you have never drawn before and things that friends and family suggest that you draw/add to the list.
5.Make sure that the list is ordered in such a way that you have something you'd like to draw followed by something you're not so sure about and isn't weighted so that the first 50 things are the ones you want to draw and the tail end is full of the shit you dont wanna even think about.
6. Start working through that list, maybe one thing at a time/per day/per drawing session.
most importantly only refer to this list of things when you are having a creative block.
In my honest opinion this might be the biggest load of bollocks ever written on the internet, however if it works perhaps I should start selling it
.LOL
As for my own drawings, I haven't uploaded much to my blog/site recently so it depends on how regularly you tend to visit mathewbrewer.com , should have some new stuff soon though, I'm working on a little interactive animated character for the homepage, which is giving me a bit of a headache, even drawing for a flash animated puppet type character is harder than just doodling a random gorrilla or some shit. lol
anyway epistle over, let me know if any of these words of wisdom/bullshit helped you any.
and remember "With great power comes great reponsibility"
